Opinion: Jersey Shore

Drama

The buzz going around is all about the new MTV series called Jersey Shore. The show takes place in a summer share house in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

It follows eight bronzed guido’s and guidette’s while they experience a summer they’ll never forget. While on this crazy adventure they become more like family rather than room mates.

While some reality shows, such as Real World are stuck in a boring rut, Jersey Shore is nothing like this. It is full of fun and exciting times filled with loud music and fist pumps. This, of course, makes us want to join the cast.

I’m not sure what it is about the show that makes people go crazy for it, but everyone is talking about it. Jersey Shore is taking over the nation, with their outspoken and in your face attitudes, which leaves us wondering what’s going to happen the following week.

Like all good things, they must come to an end. When the summers over all the guido’s and guidette’s must go back to their lives. Like always MTV will be playing reruns nonstop.

Along with the rest of America I’m crossing my fingers that the talk about season two is in the works and will follow the cast once again in Jersey.

Michigan Bands on the Rise

Band

ISeeStarsWhen people look for music, they usually look in other places not knowing good music is right in their own backyard.

Local bands are not getting the recognition that they deserve. Many local bands around Detroit are going on tour with big bands and even getting signed to major record labels. Hardly anyone in Michigan notices.

I See Stars and We Came As Romans are Michigan natives. Both bands are pot hardcore electronic bands that have gained ground around the United States.

I See Stars is signed to Sumerian Records, has toured with the likes of A Day To Remember and Silverstein, and even collaborated with Bizzy Bone from Bone Thugs N Harmony. We Came As Romans are signed to Equal Vision and with an extensive tour schedule, seem to be spreading the word about their band quite rapidly.

Glee

Choir

glee-castWith so many new shows on it’s hard to choose which ones to watch or which ones may interest you.

If you’re looking for a bunch of annoying kids singing about prom or keeping their heads in the game, then Glee probably won’t interest you.

But luckily for all of us, Glee isn’t like that, at all. With songs from this generation’s hottest artist, such as Rihanna, Jordin Sparks, and a funny take on Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” The Glee cast covers some classic’s by artists such as, Salt n’ Pepa, Queen, and Journey, but with more of a modern twist.

The FOX network should be praised for the new comedy show which aired their pilot on May 19, and then didn’t air their first episode until Sept. 9, which left viewers around the world on the edges of their couches.
